A letter from the Editor-in-Chief.
I built Higher Class Editions to preserve something that was quietly disappearing.
We live in an age of speed, abundance, and endless commentary. Everything is published instantly, consumed briefly, and forgotten just as quickly. Culture has been flattened into surfaces. Depth is treated as excess. Discipline is treated as absence.
This house exists in opposition to that drift.
I grew up reading Hugo, Dumas, Baudelaire, Racine. Structure as a form of respect: for the subject, for the reader, for the work itself. That principle governs everything we publish.
Our books are editions meant to endure. Each title is approached as an object of record, something that could exist on a shelf decades from now without apology.
I believe taste is a form of intelligence. The most powerful statements are often the least aggressive.
If you are here, it is likely because you do not read for distraction. You are drawn to work that assumes your attention rather than competing for it.
Thank you for entering the library.
